Working closely with Schools, Universities and Academy Trusts, we have developed the ZONE™ to provide an enclosed structure with the performance of a traditional build yet significantly more affordability.

ZONE™ design allows you to create vibrant new learning and circulation space with an architectural flexibility to complement existing building fabric, underpinned by full technical compliance with Building Control design criteria including Part L2A Building Regulations for energy consumption, CO2 emissions, design flexibility and solar gain limits.

The ZONE™ concept is offered in two distinct model specifications, Glazed Building Extension and Glazed Enclosed Canopy.

  • ZONE™ Glazed Building Extension is a premium, highly energy efficient design that consists of a thermally broken steel structure, insulated floor slab, a trapezoidal-profiled insulated roof panel system and aluminium curtain wall with solar control glazing. Specified with A+ rated heat pump system with cooling mode and high efficacy LED lighting to achieve EPC ratings which will typically be significantly over benchmark for energy efficiency.
  • ZONE™ Glazed Enclosed Canopies are designed to offer ambient covered and enclosed space with maximum cost efficiency. Specified with either an insulated steel panel roofing system or aluminium roof glazing system and triplewall heatguard solar control polycarbonate panels, aluminium curtain walling with low E glazing and a non-thermal sub-floor with decorative surface, these structures are compliant with year round internal air temperatures recommended within the criterion of BB101 (Ventilation of School Buildings, Building Bulletin 101). The requirements of Part L Building Regulations are met with the use of intermittent radiant heat.

Apart from the obvious cost advantage compared with a traditional build, it is also possible to lease the structure in accordance with school procurement guidelines; a particular advantage when income from increasing student numbers is not received until the following year.

An additional benefit is that with offsite manufacturing accounting for the significant part of the construction process, the site build for these innovative structure – typically 8 weeks – ensures that disruption to the operation of your organisation is kept to a minimum.
