The Green School Awards will be staged at the Ashford International Hotel in February

Streetspace is set to play a leading role in the south east’s Green School Awards in February.

The event will be staged in two weeks time and showcases the best school-led initiatives in categories including green travel to school, energy conservation, nature conservation, air pollution, recycling, and health and wellbeing. Winning initiatives are young person-led to some extent and can focus on school or wider community projects.

Streetspace Communications Manager Simon Dolby will co-host the event along with Nicola Everett, TV presenter and head of multi media news at the KM Group, when it is staged at the Ashford International Hotel, Kent in February.

This will be the 20th anniversary of the awards which was rebranded 10 years ago to reflect a wider range of categories. Mr Dolby has been its host since its launch.

Simon Dolby said: “I am very honoured to represent Streetspace at this anniversary event staged by Inspire Schools. The Green School Awards are staged to help children become more knowledgeable about our environment and to encourage the next generation to take practical steps to help protect and conserve it.”

“There are so many ways young people can help make a difference whether it be an initiative to boost recycling on the school campus or community estate, or the creation of a nature conservation area or kitchen garden to grow vegetables used in the school kitchen.”

Streetspace has worked in the design and construction of public open space, developing projects across a broad range of sectors including housing associations and education.

The company’s projects include canopies and walkways, glazed structures, all-weather sports canopies, green roof buildings and tensile membrane structures. The firm is a passionate supporter of initiatives that get children fit and active.

Joining Streetspace at the awards will be Medway Council, Ethical Earth Company, East Kent Recycling, Golding Vision, NCS Technology, LoopCR , London Borough of Bexley and Kent County Council.
