Structural Design Engineer

Streetspace Ltd, Hythe, Kent

£35k – £40k

 What We Do

At Streetspace we’ve been working with schools, colleges and universities across the UK for over 20 years on a broad scope of construction projects, from dining halls and sports structures to civil engineering, surfacing, hard landscaping, street furniture and a multitude of canopies and shelters.

With the resource to manage and execute in-house from evaluation, concept, architectural and structural design, through planning and project management, to final build and close-out, the Streetspace team bring covered space solutions to life in steel, engineered timber, glass, fabric membranes and advanced plastics.

What We Are Looking For

With continued strong growth we are looking for a Structural Design Engineer to join the professional team at our Hythe offices, with technical responsibility for structural engineering design across all Streetspace canopy structure projects.

We’re looking for someone with a proven track record in the design and delivery of steel frame structural design to work closely with our design and operations teams delivering projects from concept to installation including foundation design and structural analysis.

What Does The Role Involve

  • Design of steel and engineered timber structures and their foundations using recognised UK and European codes and standards.
  • Develop and establish clearity and excellence in design processes for the drawing office
  • Preparation of calculations, written reports and checking of drawings
  • Checking of design drawings done by other technicians.
  • Continual evaluation and improvement of existing structural designs for increased cost effectiveness and regulatory compliance.
  • Providing technical advice to sales and estimating functions

About You

  • Educated to degree level in Structural Engineering
  • Minimum 2 years industry experience
  • Familiar with 3D CAD software for design and structural analysis
  • A working knowledge of British Standards and Eurocodes.
  • A basic understanding of Health & Safety Regulations, Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and other relevant legislation.
  • Ideally familiar with the steel fabrication industry and the working requirements of EN 1090 EXC 2.
  • Reliable and enthusiastic with the ability to work to demanding deadlines.
  • An organised and confident team player, adept at running multiple projects
  • Innovative, solutions driven with an exceptional eye for detail

Salary & Benefits

Based at our Head Office in Hythe, this is a full time position with a competitive salary and benefits package, great workspace, facilities and a friendly, open working environment with regular staff events (post-Covid).

  • Permanent Role, Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm
  • 32 Days Paid Holiday (inclusive of Bank Holidays)

Yard Operative / Goods In (Late Shift)

Streetspace Ltd, Hythe, Kent

A new opportunity has arisen to join the Yard team at our Lympne site, on the late shift Monday to Friday from 1:00pm – 9:00pm.

Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be working as part of the yard team; checking orders out and loading company trucks as they return, re-loading materials from holding area to warehouse locations and clearing production work for the following day.

You will be responsible for the yard area and the outside materials, maintaining a clean and safe working environment. This is a role with keyholder responsibilities and we are looking for someone reliable that will be an asset to the yard team.

About the Job

  • Unloading inbound products and material for held stock, transferring the days deliveries into correct yard or warehouse location.
  • Loading company vehicles as they return with outbound deliveries ensuring all items are checked against load sheets before loading.
  • Clearing completed projects from production area at end of day shift and transferring to packing area checking against job sheets.
  • Reloading production area with raw materials for the following days shift as directed
  • Reloading returned goods to correct stock or recyclable locations as directed
  • Ensuring yard area is maintained safe, clean and orderly at all times
  • Maintain production area and warehouse safe, clean and in order at end of each shift.

About You

  • Counterbalance fork lift licence
  • Good knowledge of safe working practices
  • Experience of stores control and loading vehicles
  • Physically fit, experienced in manual handling
  • Reliable and consistent, able to demonstrate high levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Team player with a flexible attitude to task requirements and peak volumes
  • Ability to demonstrate longevity in past employment.

£10.50/hr (rising to £11.50hr after completion of 3 month probationary period) 40 hours / week Monday to Friday only, 1.00pm – 9.00pm with 2no. 30 mins paid breaks.

Welder/ Steel Fabrication Operative

Streetspace Ltd, Dover

 

Streetspace are currently looking for an additional Welder / Steel Fabrication Operative to join the metroSTOR manufacturing team at our Poulton Close site in Dover.

About the Job

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be working primarily on MIG welding thin gauge SHS material 1mm – 2mm within a production environment producing batch work. The role will require flexibility in performing different duties around the fabrication and sheet metal department as required.

About You

  • MIG Welding experience
  • Physically fit, able to handle heavy items with volume
  • Reliable and consistent, able to demonstrate high levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ideally experienced in a production environment.
  • Team player with a flexible attitude to meet peak volumes
