ZONEu2122 Glazed Buildings : Building Regulations
With any construction project there are many factors in the proposed design that will determine the approach to regulatory compliance. The following represents a typical route to UK Building Control compliance for ZONE™ Glazed Structures in the education sector.
Part F – Ventilation of new buildings other than dwellings
Using DTM thermal modelling we demonstrate compliance with the recommended parameters for airflow, solar gain and daytime temperatures generated by the model. Ventilation provision in schools is made in accordance with the guidance in Building Bulletin 101 (Ventilation of School Buildings, Building Bulletin 101, School Building and Design Unit, Department for Education and Skills 2006), CIBSE Guide A and CIBSE TM52. Part L – L2B Conservation of fuel and power in existing buildings other than dwellings ZONE™ Glazed Structures can generally be classified as a building with low energy demand exempt from energy calculations, provided that the thermal capabilities of any adjoining buildings are not compromised. The fixed building services installation is not used to heat the entire enclosed volume of space, only for fixed periods during the day when the building is in use. In order to demonstrate that the year round temperatures will be suitable for the use class we use DTM thermal modelling against BB101, CIBSE Guide A and CIBSE TM52.
